Julie McGill

costume designer

/bio

Julie McGill is a Canadian Costume Designer and member of the Associated Designers of Canada and USITT. She received her Bachelor of Education from the Faculty of Education at the University of Western Ontario, her Masters of Fine Arts in Theatre with a focus on Costume Design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her Honours BA in Theatre from Dalhousie University, receiving the Gold Medal award in Theatre. Julie is currently teaching the Period Cutting course in the Technical Costume Studies Progam at Fanshawe College in London Ontario. She has also taught at Sheridan College in Mississauga Ontario within the Theatre Program and at UIUC in the undergrad Theatre 103 Costume Technology class. Sdurin

 

Her earlier career was as a professional singer/guitarist travelling in both Canada and the USA as well as creating "be spoke" costumes for performers..

 

Past productions include the opera Hansel and Gretel and Cinderella under the direction of Theodore Baerg and Northern Daughter written and performed by Donna Creighton with director Louise Fagan. Julie is currently in production on the opera Falstaff with director Michael Cavanagh for UWOpera.
